VINTAGE RADIO CONVERTED INTO A BLUETOOTH SPEAKER. Paillard 85 model from 1936. It shows minor signs of age, telling and testifying to the authenticity of the piece. Produced in Switzerland. Warm and enveloping sound. Dimensions: 390 x 230 x 170 mm.

THE HISTORY OF THIS PIECE. Several watch manufacturers gathered under M. Paillard in Ste Croix in 1814 to form an export organization and built a first factory building in 1875. In 1919 the company was converted into a joint-stock company and had nine buildings in Ste Croix and Yverdon. From 1947, the company became Paillard S.A. Until 1860, the company produced music boxes in addition to watch components, and in the 1860-1880 phase also musical machines. In 1897/8, the production of "talking machines" with wax cylinders was introduced, and in 1904 the technology was converted to disc playback. In 1913, the first electric gramophone motors were developed, and with their technical development, the Paillard - alternating current - gramophone motor became a popular export item. Under the name Hermes, typewriters were also developed starting in 1913/4, of which the "Hermès 2000" and from 1935 the "Hermès-Baby" became famous. From 1927 Paillard built gramophone amplifiers, and in 1932 the Beu was also registered by radios. From 1930 Paillard built film cameras and projectors that dominated the market for many years; the division was sold to Eumig (A) in 1969/74. In 1962 Paillard acquired the turntable manufacturer Thorens. Paillard soon became one of Switzerland's most successful manufacturers of radio sets and also of radio/phonograph combinations. In the early 1950s, with the advent of FM reception, Paillard could no longer keep up with technical developments. Paillard was acquired by Olivetti in 1981, and the company went out of business in 1989.
